CSR: RISA Helps At Old Government House

As one of RISA’s CSR initiatives, it was agreed that RISA would offer assistance to the Board of the Old Government House Museum (“OGHM”) to help with the restoration of OGHM, following the severe damage caused by Hurricane Irma in September 2017.

Old Government House has played an important place in the history and culture of the people of the British Virgin Islands. It has always been a place of purposeful activity, hosting official functions, social gatherings and Royal visits; all of which engaged local participants.

With the assistance of Dr Mitch Kent, author, historian and marine archaeologist and Mrs. Millie Jaspert, RISA members helped clear rubble, strip paint, garden and basically got their hands dirty at OGHM. Their efforts have helped save the Board of OGHM funds which can now be used elsewhere in the restoration project. A massive thank you to everyone who gave up their time!

A “Paint and Pizza Party” will hopefully to be scheduled at OGHM later this year. Members will be invited to grab a paint brush and help put the finishing touches to the rooms in the downstairs of OGHM. Once completed, OGHM will finally be able to open its doors to the public once again.

If any member would like to suggest other possible CSR initiatives, please do contact a member of the RISA Board.
